HerbFest and Oktoberfest in Wake Forest Becoming Two of Best Family Friendly Festivals

The first annual Oktoberfest in Wake Forest, modeled after Munich's famous beer festival,  was held on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 at Festival Park and was an overwhelming success raising funds for the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment ( G.J.C.A.E.).

The day started off cool and rainy but in the cavernous 20,000 square foot Festival Park ( no tents needed here)  all was well with the Harbour Towne Fest Band keeping the folks jumping and enjoying themselves. Our microbreweries sampled Bavarian Lager, Brewer's Alliance, original German Beers including the original Budweiser Czechvar, Wild Blue, and American Ale , and for kids as well as lethargic adults the Monster Energy Drinks,    Authenic German food and wine samples were abundant and the kids loved the face paintings done free by the Franklin Academy German Club.  Please watch our videos for some "live action" of the event.

Presently,  after one attempt,  the Wake Forest Oktoberfest is not equal to Munich's famous beer festival,  which is one of the largest festivals in the world, but the Wake Forest Oktoberfest and the annual HerbFest are climbing the ladder of success to become the "best family friendly festivals around"!! (:)  The Munich festival is known for the wiesn (or some derivative such as weesn-wiesen- wies'n, weezn ) but in any language it's BEER.
